I didn’t have a lot of time to sew this week because we spent more time over at the garden than we’d originally planned. (I hope to have a garden update ready to post over the weekend.)
But I did get some sewing in last night and can happily check another item off my 2015 Finish Along Q2 Goals list.
This little zippered pouch Christmas stocking turned out even cuter than I had pictured in my mind.
The basic idea for it zippered pouch stocking came from Jennifer over at Jennifer Jangles Happy Designs but I needed to create a stocking pattern big enough to fit the Bluework snowman embroidery.
The stocking finishes at approximately 8.5″ tall by 6.5″ wide.
Two silver jingle bells attached with cording braided from the same embroidery floss I used for the snowman make a sweet, musical zipper pull. This can now go into the gift box ready to fill if I need a last minute gift come Christmas time.
I have four more of the small embroideries that I’m hoping to turn into something before the end of the month so I don’t have to roll them over into my 2015 Finish Along Q3 Goals. Can you believe we’re almost half way through the year?!!
Edited to add: The pattern for the snowman was a free pattern offered by Stitching Cow. Sadly it no longer seems to be available.

June 22, 2015 6:37 pmSuch a cute little stocking – I love the blue embroidery. At one time I had a bunch of fabric bags (nothing as cute as yours though!), but now that we don’t exchange gifts I don’t need them and passed them on to our kids.

June 21, 2015 7:50 amWow, I love the idea of a zippered stocking! Your embroidery looks great framed by the fabric and I’m going to use the idea of bells as zipper pulls! Isn’t it great to have another project off the Christmas gift list 🙂

June 19, 2015 3:33 pmReally a great ice for gift cards or $$, but we use cloth bags for our other gifts – you can recycle to the next year and not worry about adding to the landfill. I think I’m going to enlarge the pattern to accommodate maybe an 11″ zipper and have some new recyclable gift wraps! Thanks!!!!!
