This is the time of year when there are lots of projects in various stages of progress but the majority of which can’t be shared until after Christmas. However, there is one Christmas gift-in-progress that I can share as the recipient doesn’t read my blog.
When Lorna from Sew Fresh Quilts first announced that she was having a Quilt Along for her Dog Gone Cute pattern, I knew that I wanted to make a block that looked like Bhodi, our oldest daughter’s and her partner’s dog. Well in September, I hurt my arm so I wasn’t able to quilt along with everyone else.
But I need to get their gifts finished and in the mail before the end of October if they are to arrive in Shanghai in time for Christmas. To that end, I spent today working on the largest of the two block sizes which I plan to turn into a pillow cover as a gift for Oldest Daughter’s partner.
As I’ve never met Bhodi in person, I only had these photos to go on.
I mixed and matched different elements from Blocks 3, 4 & 5 of the Dog Gone Cute pattern posted on Lorna’s blog to come up with this fabric interpretation of Bhodi:
I’m just so tickled with how it turned out. There may have even been some squealing and giggling as various parts of the block started to come together.
Tomorrow, I’ll quilt it and hopefully have a finished pillow cover to show you by Friday.

October 22, 2015 6:36 pmJust look at those adorable eyes!! How could you not love them? (btw – just a wee suggestion…what if you embroidered a little white ‘spot’ in the eyes on your quilt? It would bring them to life perhaps?)

October 22, 2015 1:08 pmHi, time for the ornament swap is fast approaching. I think you’re my swap partner. Life has gotten in the way of blogging so I’m behind on posts.
I like the dog block you made.
