WIP Wednesday – Hand Quilting Finished

This morning, I finished hand quilting around the last of the Forest Friends.  I really like how quilting with #8 perle cotton makes whatever you’re quilting around stand out.

The owl took the longest and was the most challenging as it’s in the center of the quilt.

Here’s the squirrel:

And here’s the raccoon:

Hand quilting done around the appliqued raccoon.

Both the raccoon and squirrel have some embroidery left to do on them.  I realize now that I should have completed that before sandwiching the quilt, but I’d misread the directions.

I should be able to complete those small areas this evening and then tomorrow I can start the machine quilting.

I’m not the only one trying to get WIPs finished.  We purchased our lawn chairs way back in 2000.   Paint was flaking off in spots and they had started to rust badly in other places.

So Dave has been sanding them down by hand to get them ready to be spray painted.

In this photo, he’s sanding all the little pieces.

Dave sanding the little round pieces for the lawn chairs. He’s mentioned quite a few times today that there were 30 of those little round things.  30 I tell you!  lol

The backs are all sanded.

Backs of the lawn chairs Dave is refinishing

He finished sanding the seats while I was at the dentist having my teeth cleaned so I didn’t get a photo of those.  Now he just needs to finish the side pieces.

But before I can get back to the Forest Friends quilt and Dave can get back to work on the chairs, we have to make a run over to the garden to do some work there while the sun is shining as they are predicting showers for the next two days.

I hope you’re having a great week!

If I’d been stuck with sanding all those little pieces I would have been reminding everybody too!! Your hubby deserves a medal for all that work.

Your Forrest Friends are gorgeous and the fabrics you used are perfect. Looking forward to seeing the quilt finished.

DH is doing a great job on your outdoor chairs too.

Sue, your work is beautiful. I’m glad to posted the close-ups; I don’t think I’ve seen quilting with perle cotton live. I’ll now look for it. Thanks for posting to TN&TN!

You need clear weather for the spray-painting, too…

Good luck with you WIPs, both of you!

The animal blocks look great. I don’t usually have the patience for hand quilting so I admire it when others do.
