Some Cute Finishes For This Week

This week has been a fun week for finishes.

First, I completed this Snowman and Moose embroidery.

I bought this as a kit during the quilt shop going out of business sale that I posted about during the summer. It has been my on-the-road project and sitting waiting at the laundromat project so it’s taken a while to complete it.

But I’m really glad it’s done because while it turned out cute, the fabric that was used is not one I would have chosen. I prefer embroidering on fabric with a tighter weave. And the instructions called for working with three strands of thread whereas I like to work with two.

I did give working with three strands a fair try though but once I finished doing the trees, I switched to two strands for the rest of the pattern.

Now I just need to search thrift shops for the right sized frame and it will be ready to display during the holidays.

My second finish is just too adorable for words, even if I do say so myself.

I had come up this idea to knit a set of miniature mittens, hat and scarf but I had donated all my leftovers of yarn.

And then one day last week when I was at Michaels picking up something else, they had these oh so cute packages of mini balls of yarn called Bonbons.(<-affiliate link to find on Amazon)

I hoped that one of those balls would be enough to make the set of miniatures I had in mind. Well it turns out that one ball will make two mittens and the hat with pom pom but it’s not enough to make the scarf with fringe as well.  Luckily, I had a 40% off coupon so back to Michaels I went to buy another package of Bonbons.

I’m sure you’ll agree that they turned out absolutely adorable and will look great hanging on the tree!

There’s still 7 more colours of the little Bonbon yarns, so I’ll be able to perfect the pattern during the evenings after supper. I hope to have the pattern for all three ready to share soon.

And my third finish this week doesn’t classify as a crafty finish… but a satisfying one nonetheless. Those wrapped packages up above are the gifts for Dave’s grandchildren all wrapped and ready to send off just as soon as we find the right size box to mail them in. Having them ready to go this early, I’ll be able to send them surface rather than having to pay extra for priority mailing as I’ve had to do in the past.

It’s been a good week for finishes.
