I’ve been busy trying to get the hand stitching done on this month’s applique block that Lana from It Seams to be Sew designed for November – In Our Garden BOM.
Lana loves bunnies so her little pilgrim bunny is here to wish you a…
As you can see… I had a bit of fun stitching that bunny!
First, I changed the shape of the hat and instead of the applique band that Lana had included, I satin stitched the band and the buckle.
When I first saw Lana’s version, I thought the black rabbit hole was actually the bunny’s shoulders and that he was dressed in a black suit. So I kept the idea of that being his shoulders because I wanted this block of the bunny harvesting his carrots to match this block of the bird digging up carrots earlier in the gardening season.
Lastly, I embroidered his face. But for the longest time I couldn’t figure out why he didn’t look quite right. Until I realized that he needed bunny whiskers! 🙂
I’m super please with how he turned out!
For the pieced block Lana linked to a couple of tutorials for classic pinwheel blocks.
I decided to change things up a bit and instead of two fabrics, I used four different fabrics so that the block would blend well with the other Blue and White blocks I’ve been making.
Here are Blocks 19 and 20 side by side:
I’m pleased to say that I’m now all caught up In the Garden BOM!
Well… at least until December 1st when the second last set of blocks will be released.
Blocks 19 and 20 will be available for free until the end of November. So if you haven’t had a chance to download them, head on over now.
