We lived in the States for too long and came to love it too much to not celebrate the 4th of July even though we’re back living in Canada for the time being. So….
Happy Independence Day!
Have a safe and wonderful holiday weekend with much Aloha!!
For those who might like to know about the different pieces in our 4th of July tablescape:
The table topper is called Old Glory Scrambled.
The inspiration for the fabric pinwheels came from the Love Quilting.com blog. I didn’t have the exact materials that were listed but just used what I had on hand and am really pleased with the result!
The glass star dishes were lucky finds at Value Village yesterday.
Dave baked the star and eagle cookies last night while I was making the pinwheels and writing this post.
And that adorable little patriotic hedgehog was made for me by our oldest daughter. The pattern is her own design and she is currently working on the pattern for it and several other of her originally designed softies.
Here’s a close-up of him:

July 4, 2015 2:35 pmOMG that hedgehog is TOO CUTE!! Having lived just outside Windsor, ON for 5 years in the 80s, both daughters were born in Windsor, and now the past 3 years we’ve moved back here, we often feel like a suburb of Detroit, so the 4th of July is celebrated in our house…it also happens to be my eldest daughter’s birthday, so double celebration. We always called her Miss America when she was little, and joked that she’d always get fireworks on her birthday!
