With the 14th fast approaching, I decided to spend some evening TV watching time making a couple of Valentine’s Pips.
They turned out so cute that yesterday with the sun shining in and providing great lighting, I held a little photo shoot and experimented with different ways to show them off.
I’ve been looking for an excuse to add that jar of vintage thread spools to a photo. And I’m not sure if you can see the printed sayings but in Canada, Conversation Hearts come in English and French.
These Valentine’s Thimble Pips can of course be used to hold your thimble.
But they also make delightful little gift boxes…
The fabric used for the Hearts Valentine’s Pip is Stof Memories Hearts Peach. The red with white dots fabric is Essential Dots by Moda. I wish now that I’d bought more than just a fat quarter of each. Especially the dots… it is perfect for framing my redwork embroidery.
There’s still time to make one or two or even more for Valentine’s Day.

Thimble Pip Tutorial
I know you’ll love making these pips to give as gifts. They can be made to suit most any holiday or gift giving occasion.
For instance, how about these adorable Easter Pips!
Frankie and Frannie Frog are just so cute. Your kids will love them.
Sew Bennet Bunny and he’ll be ready to hop into your little one’s Easter basket.
These cute little pips can also be turned into beautiful Christmas Pips to hang on the tree to hide the gift in plain sight!

And of course, I’d love it if you share it on Twitter and Facebook. 🙂

February 12, 2015 3:42 amI love the vintage thread jar. I bought a whole load of vintage spools from eBay when I started sewing again 2 or 3 years ago. I love digging the box out to find a colour I need. The thimble pips reminded me that I need to blog about a stocking filler that my husband bought me at Christmas. It’s a vintage thimble in a case made from 2 cockle shells. Super cute and gorgeous.

February 10, 2015 7:52 amHi SuperMom!
My jar of vintage threads is bigger than your jar! Too bad it can’t be used for sewing – too much breakage.
Those pips are cute!
