Vintage Embroidery Monday – Geraniums in a Pot

I missed posting last week’s Vintage Embroidery Monday.  I’ll be honest and say that I was busy and completely forgot until later in the week that I hadn’t scheduled the post.

For your stitching pleasure today I’m posting Geraniums in a Pot:

Geraniums always remind me of my Mom.  She absolutely hates how they smell.  The story goes that when she was in high school, one of her teachers had potted geraniums lining the windowsill of her classroom (back when classrooms still had rows of windows.)  The word got around that Mom didn’t like the smell they gave off when they were shaken and so to tease her one (or more) of the boys would go in each day and shake the heck out of each geranium before class.

It was years and years before Mom would have geraniums anywhere in the house or her gardens.   I think she may have relented because they grow well in her climate.  But I’m still not sure that I’d want to be guilty of shaking one when she was around.
