In the above photo, I’m sewing the last few inches of binding onto my 4th of July Picnic quilt. I completed the top in the middle of July 2012. It’s going to feel so good to have this finished!
And then I’ll only have a couple more projects that were started in 2012 and have been traveling from place to place with us to complete.

March 24, 2013 7:38 pmOh, I love when I get to this stage on a quilt… so close to being able to sit back, admire the hard work and then enjoy it! Way to go, Susan!
Have to admit I’m drooling over the peek here of your vintage Singer. She’s a beauty.

March 24, 2013 6:12 pmI know the feeling of finishing a project that was begun many moons ago. I have a few too. I am getting the ‘quilting’ bug and want to start another one. Thanks for the inspiration!
Enjoy! ~~Vickie

March 24, 2013 1:42 pmVery nice, but be careful with pins. If your needle hits one, you can knock the timing out…the timing that affects the needle going down into the hook/race area and picking up the thread to form the stitch.
I enjoy your projects and posts.

March 24, 2013 4:28 pmHello Kathie,
Thank you for the compliment.
I don’t sew over the pins, I remove them as I come to them. But it’s a good tip to share so that others know why it’s not a good idea to sew over pins.
Edited later to add: After Kathie pointed it out, I looked back at the photo one more time and there is a pin in the quilt behind the needle. Not sure how I missed removing that pin, but it does occasionally happen. Thanks again for pointing that out Kathie!
