DIY Christmas Ornaments to Sew and Embroider
These Prairie Point Star Ornaments will look elegant hanging on your tree or in a window. The one pictured is made using 5" charm squares. But you can cut your own squares in different sizes.
They're a great way to use up scraps from your stash.
These ornaments are a great first sewing project for children.
If your child is old enough to hold a needle and weave it in and out of fabric, they'll have fun making these Christmas Button Lace Ornaments.
They will feel so proud and accomplished when their ornament is finished and hanging on the tree. They can point to it and say, "I made that!"
If you're a quilter, you likely already have a Dresden ruler. Put it to use making these pretty Dresden Charm Ornaments. They're another great project for using up fabric scraps.
Cone ornaments have been a classic decoration since Victorian times.
Make them from fabric and they'll last for years. Leave them plain or dress them up with lace, ribbon, cording or rick rack which can also be used for the hangers.

You only need to know three basic embroidery stitches to make them; running stitch, backstitch and blanket stitch.
The design inspiration for these Embroidered Felt Christmas Baubles came from vintage glass ornaments from the early to mid 1900s.
Like the felt star ornaments, they only require basic embroidery stitches. In this case, backstitch, French knots and blanket stitch are used.
