I get it, you had the best intentions to make a gift for Mom for Mother’s Day but time got away from you. No need to panic or rush out to the store (assuming stores are open in your area.)

Last Minute Gifts to Sew

And who better than to give one to than your Mom or mother-in-law or to that woman in your life who has been like a second Mom.
The tutorial shows them made in Christmas fabrics but they can be made in so many different fabric combination to suit the recipient, the season or to match a person's home décor.
Turn any blank book into a pretty journal for your Mom by making a fabric book cover for it. The tutorial demonstrates how to make a cover for a composition book but you can use those same instructions to cover any book of any size.
Does your Mom like to sketch or paint? Make a cover for an art journal.
Perhaps her favorite inspirational or devotional is showing it's age. A book cover can protect it from further wear and tear and help her to keep using it for years to come.
You can have a pretty table runner cut and sewn in about an hour following my One Hour Table Runner Tutorial. In fact, the instructions include directions to make two table runners: one the reverse of the other. You can give one to Mom and keep one for yourself to brighten both of your spring décor.
Turn plain old tissue boxes into a pretty addition to your Mom's décor by making a set of reversible tissue box covers.
Make them in her favorite colors or to match her existing décor.
They can also be made to switch out with the seasons. Choose one fabric for the outside and a different one for the inside. When the seasons change, simply flip the cover inside out.
Instructions are given to easily create patterns for any size or brand of tissue box.
Does your Mom like to take her tablet with her when she goes places? A pretty padded tablet cover would be the perfect gift to make for her to protect her tablet.
This project might take you an afternoon or an afternoon plus an evening depending whether you hand sew or machine sew the binding.

Turn a glasses case into a sewing kit that your Mom can slip into her purse for making emergency repairs on the go.
It's also perfect for her to add to her hand sewing project bags so she has the supplies she needs no matter what room in the house she stitching in.
All you need are a glasses case, some scraps of fabric, a bit of felt and stuffing and some small spools for thread.
She'll never lose her thimble again once you make her a thimble pip to store it in.
