We’re back from our vacation in Maui!
If you follow me @supermomnocape on Instagram, you already know we had an awesome time exploring and getting reacquainted with home of our hearts. There have been many changes in the last 13 years but Maui is still Maui and from the moment we landed we felt its welcoming embrace.
We began planning our next trip before we even left!
But it has been quite a transition going from warm temperatures in the 70s and 80s (20s ºC,) waking up to this view of the ocean from the lanai of our condo:
To seeing this on the drive home:
And arriving home to all this snow!
Even more has fallen over the past few days!
Those of you who have never experienced snow may be thinking that it’s pretty (and it is in it’s own way) but we also came back to daytime temperatures of 0ºF (-18ºC) and -15ºF (-26ºC) at night with much colder windchills.
BRRRR!!!!!
So to keep from feeling sorry for myself… after all we just got back from a vacation that many people only dream about, I’m having a giveaway.
When we were in Maui, I made sure to visit all the fabric stores I used to go to when we lived there plus a couple that have opened since then. (I’ll be featuring those shops in future posts.)
Now you know that I couldn’t visit that many Maui fabric stores and not buy some Aloha fabric to bring back with me!
And I bought this bundle of 4 fat quarters to send to one of you to brighten your day.
I opened my own bundle so you could see them better:
Aren’t they just so pretty and bright!
Also included in the Aloha from Maui prize is a tin of cookies from the Honolulu Cookie Company.
I discovered the Honolulu Cookie Company while getting reacquainted with The Shops at Wailea. One of the cool things about this shop is that you’re allowed to try a sample of each of their shortbread cookies before you buy.
In the tin that I’ve chosen for you there are four pineapple shaped shortbread cookies… one each of the following: Pineapple Macadamia, Butter Macadamia, Lilikoi and Chocolate Chip Macadamia.
Then because I love turtles, I’ve added a turtle key chain.

January 18, 2018 9:16 amWell If I could choose to go anywhere I’ve always wanted to go to Scotland (for the accent) or New Zealand (for LOTR) or Greece (for history). To be honest my ideal vacation would be to move to one of those places for a year long vacation so I could get to see the customs, holidays and meet new friends. Unfortunately w my fibro that is the only way I could do it. It would take me a full 2 weeks to recover from the travel.
Awesome give-away. I found you on Pinterest with your valentine cones tute.

January 17, 2018 12:44 amI have been to Hawaii twice and it is absolutely gorgeous there! I would go back in a heartbeat! But, my dream vacation destination (or stay forever???) is Cornwall, England! My mother is a genealogist and has trace her family to that area.
The fabrics you are giving away are so beautiful…I am thinking of things I could make with them right now 🙂

January 15, 2018 5:35 pmLovely giveaway items! Perhaps it’s not correct to have two dream getaways, but I’m going for it anyway….first of all, I’d love to go back to British Columbia (selfish wish because our wee grandson is there and I’d love to see him) and if I could choose somewhere else it would be Australia, just because I’ve always wanted to go there.

Alaska, Austria, Germany, Scotland too many to write here. your home looks pretty with snow and I do agree viewing the snow is much better than living in that cold weather. I was in Seattle visiting my son and that cold weather was night mare imagine snow for me. But I enjoyed seeing rain. Glad u had your memories refreshed with a holiday to a place you once called home. Those fabrics are so beautiful specially the red one. The unique shaped cookie tin will be a. great memorabilia for a fun win long after the cookies are eaten. I do love turtles. Thank you for a fun blog with embroidery patterns and a good read of everything thats happening in your world. thanks for your generously giving us an opportunity to win. I so eagerly look forward to hearing from you…

January 10, 2018 4:28 amI am already a subscriber and I have been waiting to see how Lexie and the gang enjoy the vacation. I know they were really rocking the surfing when you arrived. My dream vacation has always been to go to England and Scotland, I have always been fascinated by castles and being being a royal or at least meeting royalty. Alas, I doubt that will ever happen since I don’t think I could handle the long flight but I love reading the books by Patience Griffin (she a quilter) they are all quilt related and set in Scotland. I hope Lexie, Lanie and Rexie aren’t too tired to put all their memories into a scrapbook soon I can’t wait to see more of them.

I too love the Hawaiian Islands. I lived on Oahu when I was 9 & 10 years old. My dad worked in the Pearl Harbor shipyards during the Korea war. I did not want to go barefoot and ended up being size 11 – 7A in width.
But now I love to go barefoot on the sand and Maui is my favorite island. Hope to be there soon this spring for the third time. Since I am now three quarters of a century, life is short, so I try to do what I like sometimes.

I’ve always dreamed of visiting Australia, and if money were no object, I’d take a cruise and have a room with a balcony where I could sit and stitch and watch the ocean go by! January 9, 2018 6:49 pmMaui is our favorite place. I think I even know where the one photo was taken. We stay in Keihi, at the Mana Kai. It is the most beautiful place on earth. I think we have been back 15 times in 34 years. Both my parents are buried in the Punch Bowl. We spent our honeymoon in Honolulu and on Maui. I can’t wait to get back there. January 9, 2018 11:48 pmOur dream vacation was Hawaii also. In 1984 we took a 7-day cruise around the islands with a 3-day layover in Oahu. We had a wonderful time.
We had always wanted to visit Alaska after that. But, unfortunately with various accidents and declining health that has not been possible. But, we have our memories of Hawaii. I really miss the fresh coconut and pineapple. And, the macadamia nut ice cream is to die for!
Thank you for the Giveaway items. I love turtles too, and have a collection of them.
