WIP Wednesday & Turtle Testers Wanted

In addition to the secret Christmas projects that I’ve been working on this past week, I’ve been stitching away on the pockets for my Advent Calendar.

Embroidered pockets for my Advent Calendar

I embroidered the last of the numbers this morning so now I’m ready to cut them into strips and add them to the calendar itself.

The Advent Calendar is my October goal for A Lovely Year of Finishes and I run out of October on Saturday.  I sure hope everything goes together the way I have it pictured in my mind!

I’ve also been working on finishing the edits of the photos and instructions for my Lexie the Hexie turtle pattern.

Lexie the Hexie Turtle

Long time readers, may recall that I created the original Lexie the Hexie Turtle a couple of winters ago in Florida.  Soon after I made Lexie a BFF called Lanie and then another best friend, Rexie.  The three turtles have been going on adventures with Dave and I ever since.  Lexie told you about one of those last winter in The Hexie Turtles’ Snow Adventure.

I’ll be completing the edits in the next couple of days and I’m looking for 5 to 6 volunteers who would be willing to pattern test Lexie for me.  If you’d be interested in doing that and could have photos of your completed turtle and the answers to a short questionnaire about your experience using the pattern back to me by November 7th, please contact me at supermomnocape at yahoo dot com.

The pattern includes instructions for making the hexie flower for Lexie’s shell so even if you have never made a hexie flower, I’d love to have you test the pattern.

Bonus instructions for a turtle with a shell made of print fabric rather than a hexie flower are also included.  So I’m also looking for 2 people willing to test that section of the pattern.

Tomorrow I’ll share photos I took yesterday of the completed So Dog Gone Cute pillow cover I made for Oldest Daughter’s partner for Christmas modeled after their dog, Bhodi.

As well, this week, I spent Monday making and taking photos of another Prairie Point Star Ornament.  Look for that tutorial on Friday.

Whew!!!  I’d been thinking I hadn’t really accomplished as much this week as I’d wanted to, but when I write it all out like that, I realize that I have indeed been busy!

I would be so pleased if you chose to share by clicking on one of the buttons below!

An advent calendar is tentatively on my to-do list for this year, but when I look at the real calendar methinks it might have to wait for next year. Our grandson is too young just yet to appreciate it, so if it doesn’t get done this year it won’t be too horrible. The turtle is way cute and I would love to test it for you, but I simply can’t fit it in. If you can’t get the people you need, let me know and I’ll see if I can though.

Are you looking for testers for just the shell, or the whole turtle.
I’d prefer to do just the shell, but I could try to do the turtle-looks like those would be small pieces-are they felt? and then stuffed?
    Let me know.
    Liz

such a cute little turtle! I have not seen it before — is it a pin cushion or more like a stuffies size?

      Hello Susan,

I sent you an e-mail but thought I’d reply here too for anyone else who might like to know. The Hexie Turtles are more of a small stuffed toy size… approximately 6″ from head to tail, 5″ across the shell with the top of the head about 3 inches high. I suppose they could be used for a pincushion though they’d be a big one. 🙂
