I’ve taken a bit of a computer break except for posting a couple of photos on Instagram @supermomnocape. I haven’t even turned on my laptop since Sunday evening when I scheduled Monday’s post.
In addition to recovering from the busyness of Thanksgiving, I’ve been doing some stitching. I limit myself to just a few strands at each session but it feels good to even do that again. It really is amazing how much progress can be made.
Last week, I showed you the Advent Calendar that is my October goal for A Lovely Year of Finishes.
And this is how the top panel looks as of this morning:
Only the holly leaves and berries are left to stitch on the bottom panel…
After I get those done, I’ll start working on the pockets.
The patterns are all free ones from Red Brolly but her site seems to be down today so I wasn’t able to link to them.
Dave’s making progress on my new cutting table as well. He completed the sanding on Saturday and Sunday he applied the stain.
It’s been allowed to dry completely for a couple of days and is now ready for the application of the coats of polyurethane.
Several times yesterday, I would go open the garage door just so I could look at it and imagine it in my sewing room. It’s going to be beautiful.
Maybe by this time next week, I’ll have the finished table to show you!
What are you working on today?

October 14, 2015 6:14 pmBeautiful work, the both of you! I re-finished a table just like that for my daughter in law. I used the stain that has the poly right in with it and I was in a hurry to get it done before I had to leave town. I left one leaf down and the stain/poly sagged – looks horrible but I can’t face re-doing it again. I guess I will try spot finishing it sometime in the future, but I know it won'[t look as nice as Dave’s job!
