When I looked at the calendar this morning and realized there were only 18 days left in June, I decided that if I wanted to get some things checked off my 2015 Finish Along Q2 Goals List, I’d better get a move on it.
I chose one of the embroidered pieces that was in need of turning into something and I sewed up this drawstring gift bag to add to our collection of Christmas gift bags. (We are trying to replace paper gift wrap with items such as boxes, bags and tins that are reusable year after year.) The finished bag measures approximately 14″X19″.
I only had a fat quarter of that blue Christmas tree print so for the back and drawstring casing, I used some blue gingham check fabric that I acquired when I bought a big bag of fabric scraps for $4 at Value Village.
To give the bag some extra body and durability, I lined it with fabric from a white thrifted sheet.
The embroidered snowman was a free pattern designed by Barbara Parrish on Redwork.info. It doesn’t seem to be available anymore.
One down and several more to go!

November 9, 2015 10:16 pmAdorable! I love the idea of reusable gift bags. As much as I love wrapping paper, and although we recycle ours after the holidays, it still feels rather wasteful. What a fun idea!

July 4, 2015 7:05 pmIt’s a lovely finish. I love embroidery and this will be a beautiful gift bag that someone keeps and uses for other things. I’m helping Adrianne with the FAL and I am to say that I am visiting as part of the 2015 FAL Cheerleading Team.

June 13, 2015 2:34 amWhat a gorgeous guy! We were expecting some snow here yesterday but, while it was cold enough, it has not turned up (just LOTS of wind and rain instead!) My son is hanging out to make a snow man! Thanks for the reminder re the end of Q2 – I must get busy with my list (but am busy getting school reports done this weekend, sigh…)

June 12, 2015 6:47 pmCongratulations on getting something marked off your list. It’s something I try very hard to do, but unfortunately I just get one thing marked off and promptly end up adding several more.
