My Forest Friends quilt has been hand basted and is ready to quilt.
I’ll start by hand quilting around the squirrel, owl and raccoon in the same way that I did around the plum pudding and calendar on my Christmas Mouse Wall Hanging before I move on to doing the machine quilting.
I’m also working on two embroidery projects.
A few weeks ago, I found a bunch more fun vintage Workbasket embroidery transfers on etsy and ebay. Dave has been busy tracing and then scanning them all into the computer.
They still have to be resized before I can start sharing them with you but I’ll give you just a peek of one that I’m working on for a planned future stitch along.
The second embroidery project is my Under the Sea crazy quilt block.
This is what one could call a very slow work in progress. The silver and blue coral took me several hours to stitch. As did the Fire Coral on the left.
That tiny yellow seahorse finished at just 1/2″ tall. I reduced the seahorse pattern generously provided by Renee over at Living My Dream.
Renee has posted a whole series explaining how she is planning and then embellishing the Under the Sea blocks she receives in the round robin she is in. If you’re at all interested in crazy quilting or just love learning about someone’s creative process, be sure to check out those posts.
The sea turtle that is being worked on now came from a sketch I found online. Both the seahorse and the turtle were printed on to Sulky Sticky Fabri-Solvy.(<affiliate link)The backing peels off and then you can adhere it to your project. Once you’re finished the Fabri-Solvy dissolves in water.
And finally I’m working on another dishcloth. This time in a lovely shade of blue.
This has become my take along project in the car or whenever I’m sitting waiting for long periods of time. My new yarn bowl is getting lots of use!
What projects are you working on this week?

June 15, 2015 11:36 amLove the yarn bowl…and the under the sea is gorgeous! Are you beading those coral pieces? The little critters on the quilt are great, are they appliqued or paper pieced? Just great work!

June 10, 2015 4:09 pmGood progress, indeed. The soluble fabric/transfer is a very useful material. I’ve only used it a couple of times, but for certain applications, it’s more useful than anything else!

June 10, 2015 12:39 pmWhat a fantastic selection of projects to share with us. The forest friends quilt is really cute but best of all is the Under the sea crazy block. Is the silver and blue coral worked in bullion stitches? It is difficult to see in the photo. I’ve just started working a Dropcloth sampler- nothing like as complicated as yours but I am enjoying practicing the stitches. I’m going to investigate the Sulky Sticky Fabri-Solvy (what a name!)
