The Hexie Turtles’ Christmas Eve

The Hexie Turtles’ Christmas Eve

Happy Christmas Eve from the Hexie Turtles

It’s Christmas Eve and we all know what that means…

Santa Claus is coming tonight!

Lanie and Rexie and I are so excited. It’s been a whole year since he came to our house.

We’ve had so many adventures. We even got to talk to Santa on one of them. Yes, that’s right.

A couple of months ago, Sue and Dave took us to Bronner’s Christmas Wonderland in Frankenmuth, MI.

It really is the world’s biggest Christmas store.

We had so much fun… even before we went inside.

We got to sit on top of a humungous Christmas ornament…

We pretended to ride with Santa in his sleigh. (That’s not the real Santa.)

When we did go inside, Sue wanted to look at all the pretty ornaments and decorated trees so Dave took us to a very special place inside the store where there was a red phone with a direct line to the North Pole.

We each took turns talking to Santa.

There were so many things we wanted to ask. Like how he fits all the toys for all the boys and girls and turtles in the world in his sleigh. And does Mrs. Claus ever go with him on Christmas Eve. And how many elves there are.  And lots and lots more questions.

The Hexie Turtles say goodbye to Santa

We have been really good. And now it’s Christmas Eve.

We’ve hung the stockings on the bottom branches of the tree in the living room.

Lanie and I both wanted green stockings. Sue made Lanie’s with white patches on the heel and toe so that we could tell whose was whose. Rexie picked blue for his stocking.

We’ve had our baths and put on our nightcaps.

Dave read us our favorite Christmas story called Franklin’s Christmas Gift.(<-affiliate link)

Franklin is a turtle just like us.

We wanted to sleep under the tree in the living room but Sue said that Santa wouldn’t come until we were tucked up in our beds fast asleep.

Then when she saw our sad little faces, she said that just for tonight we could sleep under the tree in her and Dave’s bedroom that she had decorated as a special surprise for Dave when he came home from Alberta. (They don’t usually have a tree in their bedroom.)

And now, even though we’re not one bit tired, we’re snuggled up in our quilts and Dave has promised that if we’ll just close our eyes, he’ll read us another story.

But before he does, Sue and Dave, Rexie and Lanie and Lexie (that’s me) want to wish you all a very Merry Christmas!  Goodnight to you all!

Special Note from Sue:

I’ve published this story in the wee hours of Christmas Eve morning my time so that readers in other parts of the world can perhaps read this story to their little ones before they go to bed tonight.

The minute I saw the title appear in my e-mail box, I knew it was going to be a great story. Thanks so much for sharing the wee ones’ Christmas adventures and anticipation. Merry Christmas to you and Dave, and to the little cuties in their night caps.

I read about that Christmas store in a magazine years ago, good to know that it still exists.

Those Hexie Turtles look very cosy wrapped up in their quilts!

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you all
