Since I posted about my very first quilt last week to link up to the Blogger’s Quilt Festival, this week for my second entry, I thought I’d post about a quilt that I completed just this past winter.
Followers of my blog will have already seen this little charmer a number of times while I was working on it: here, here and here. But one of the rules of the festival is to write a new post for each entry, so I hope readers will indulge me while I share this again.
The Christmas Mouse redwork embroidery in the center was a free pattern from Joy Patch back in 2009. (This pattern for December 25th is no longer available but you can find the ones for the 24th and 26th here.) The embroidery itself was completed back in May of 2013 and then waited for me to decide how to finish it.
Each of those little hsts that make up the diamonds finishes at just 1 1/4″ square!
The completed wall hanging is 13″X13″.
The hand quilting around the plum pudding and the calendar using #8 white perle cotton really helped to make them stand out. I also hand quilted a 1/4″ all the way around the center section using #8 red perle cotton.
This photo of the back allows you to see the machine stitching in the ditch, I did around each of the diamonds.
I was so pleased with how this little wall hanging turned out that I have it hanging up in my sewing room so I can enjoy it every day.
Linking up to the festival doesn’t close until May 21st so there’s still time if you’d like to join in.
Voting for favorites in each category runs from May 22nd to 29th. Even if you don’t have something you’d like to enter, you can play an important part in the festival by voting for your favorite quilts.

May 20, 2015 1:07 pmWell, since I’m new (fairly new) to your blog I haven’t seen it before. Could this get any cuter? I love the detail that you added – like the red running 1/4 inch around. Very nice work!
