With today being National Quilting Day, I wanted to work on something quilty when I joined the ladies from around the world last night for the virtual sewing bee, Friday Night Sew In; currently being hosted by Wendy from Sugarlane Quilts. I already have quite a few large quilt projects in various stages of completion, the most recent of which is my Holiday Celebrations quilt that I showed you on Thursday.
So I decided to work on finishing another of my smaller 2015 Finish Along Q1 goals. I made this sketch on graph paper earlier this week:
Then last night, I cut squares to make 8 half square triangles (hst) at once using this method.
And spent the rest of the evening sewing all the seams.
This morning, I’m cutting all those tiny hst. My plan calls for 80! Time to haul out my quilting ruler, rotary cutter, and trust cutting mat! (Affiliate links enclosed)
After that I’ll be sewing them all together and using them to frame that redwork embroidered Christmas mouse. If I finish before the end of the day, I’ll update this post with a photo.
How are you spending your Saturday? Are you working on something for National Quilt Day too?

March 21, 2015 10:25 pmSadly, quilting day went by without me quilting anything. I love your little mouse, but this is going to be smaller than I envisioned that sketch. I was thinking what a great baby quilt it would make with a panel!

March 21, 2015 5:22 pmMy Saturday, after the prerequisite breakfast out with family, has been spent shoveling out my sewing room somewhat, working on cutting out quilt blocks from the strips I have finished sewing together, and in prep work for Kathy Shaw’s crazy quilt class I’m doing. Phew!!
