Christmas on a Budget Series – Buy Christmas Fabric Only When On Sale

I very rarely buy fabric when it’s full price.  On those occasions when I find I need fabric to complete a project and it’s not on sale, I try to find a 40% off coupon to use.

But most especially, I never buy Christmas themed fabric at full price because it comes on sale at least twice a year.   Right after Christmas, you can find some fantastic deals but also July when shops are having their Christmas In July sales.  (Although this year, Hancock Fabrics is having a Christmas in June sale so you might want to check that out too.)

The deals in July aren’t usually quite as good as those you find at the end of December and January but you will still be able to find fabric priced at 50% off and some of these may even be the new lines of fabrics for the coming year.

This is my drawer of Christmas fabric.  All of it bought on sale.  Quite a bit of it was purchased at the after Christmas sale in 2009 when the fabrics were on sale between 70% and 90% off.   I’ve added some pieces here and there from the sales in 2010 and 2011 when I found fabrics I really liked.

And of course, I’ve used up a lot of fabric too.  On the right, if you look closely, you’ll see my collection of scraps leftover from making gifts and gift bags.
